Boxes and trunks strengthened by moulding the material; battens, strengthening. - Moulded sheet-metal boxes or trunks have the lower or free edge of one of the portions of metal forming the moulding securely fixed to the other portion by clamping or gripping it between such other portion and a double thickness of metal bent up at the joint. Fig. 4 shows the case when the free edge of the metal backing is so gripped, and Fig. 8 shows the form in which the edge of the curved or moulded portion is secured. As described in Specification 18,926/01, which is referred to, the moulding may be strengthened by a core of wood &c.
