3559. Funk, E. M. Feb. 12. Gun cartridges.-Relates to cartridge primers of the kind in which a fulminating-cap carrier is carried in an open-ended cylindrical casing, and consists in arranging the fulminating-cap carrier to be capable of sliding longitudinally and to comprise a solid part between the point of impact and the fulminating-cap. As shown in Fig. 3, the fulminate 18 is carried in the enlarged and cup-shaped end 17 of a solid block 14, which is slidable within the casing 6, and a sealing-thimble 12 fits over the rear end of the block and into the open mouth of the casing. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 9324/86, 7026/99, and 21,245/00.
