Barrels; bayonets.-In order to facilitate the firing from small-arms of explosive or other projectiles of larger diameter than the bore of the small-arm, an extension A is detachably fitted to the barrel by means of a spring catch, and this extension may carry the bayonet B. An additional firing-charge 3 for the projectile &c. C is provided and is ignited from the ordinary charge of the small-arm. The projectiles may be for illuminating the field, for smokeproducing, or for signalling or other purposes.
