Ammunition for a recoilless gun, which may be used for practice purposes, comprises a tube 4 containing a propellant 6 and attached to a projectile 3, the base end of the tube being closed by a wall 5 of greater thickness than the tube 4, the wall 5 being secured to the projectile 3 by a rod 10 having screw-threaded ends. The forward end of the rod 10 is formed as a firing pin 11, which on impact of the projectile on a target fires a small charge 13. The tube 4 and closure 5 are made of frangible material, e.g. a plastics or a cellulose material. Guide fins may be provided on the base 5 and an electric detonator 7 is used to fire the charge 6.
