Engines with main shaft parallel to axis of cylinder; driving-gear.-A swash-plate consisting of two disks 4, 4<a> bolted together is mounted between disks 3, 3<a> on the main shaft 2. Square rods 6 having cylindrical ends are pivoted to the plate and slide in bearings in the pistonrods 11 as shown. One rod is bolted to the plate to restrain its motion. Spherical bearings may be provided in the piston-rods to permit oscillating motion in the pistons to distribute the fluid.
