Abstract

21,424. Pratt, C. R. Sept. 14. Revolving-cylinder pumps; stroke, varying.- Relates to single or multiple revolving-cylinder pumps or motors of the type that comprise a rotary member, for example, a swash-plate, to which the pistons are connected by piston-rods which are pivotally connected at both ends, respectively, to the piston and rotary member, means being provided for holding the cylinder barrel and rotary member with their axial lines at an angle to each other. The motion between the rotary member and the barrel is transmitted by means of the piston-rods, the sides of which engage one of the rotary members or means carried thereon. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the barrel 9 rotates upon a stud 8 in the carrier 5, which is mounted upon trunnions journaled in the walls of the casing so that the angle between the axes of the rotary member 4 and of the barrel 9 may be adjusted and the stroke varied. Motion is transmitted between them by means of the piston-rods 12, which at the inner end of their stroke engage with the sides of slots in a plate 23 fixed upon the barrel. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the adjustable swash-plate 51 is not fixed to the driving-shaft, but is driven through the piston-rods 42, against which bear the sides of slots 43 in the driving- plate 44.
