Abstract

2488. Henderson, J., Henderson, A., and Henderson, D. Jan. 31. Pivoted-blade type.-In machines for severing printed webs of paper &c. into lengths for the manufacture of bags, the cutting-device is so mounted as to be adjustable longitudinally of the web to ensure accuracy in the position of the line of severance. A revolving blade A, which coacts with fixed blades G, K, is splined on a spindle B and is adapted to be adjusted longitudinally thereon by a forked lever C, which embraces the hub of the blade A and is traversed longitudinally by a hand-operated screw spindle H. The lever C is also connected with a plate or table F carrying the bag-folding appliances (not shown) and the dead knife so that these members participate in the adjustment of the blade A. In a modification, the table F and spindle B are adjusted simultaneously by hand - operated rack and pinion gearing on the table, the blade A in this case being secured to the spindle B.
