Abstract

1112. Lobnitz & Co., [Robinson, A. W.]. Jan. 15. Mooring.-A spud for a scoop-arm dredger is adapted for use in a vertical or an inclined position. As shown, the spud slides through guides D on the vessel and upper guides comprising a roller E grooved for the passage of the ropes E<1>, E<11>, which raise and lower the spud, and a pivoted slide-block H to which the ends of these ropes are attached. When the spud is required to be used in an inclined position, the guides D are removed, and braces J, spread apart where secured to the vessel, are attached to one of a number of holes K in the spud.
