671. Littleton, H. Jan. 9. Spray burners.-Steam and oil, supplied respectively through the jet pipe 15 and the pipe 17, mix in the substantially L-shaped mixing- chamber 18, which is closed by a plug 19 and provided, opposite to the jet pipe, with a transverse slot 20 at which the main flame burns, and with a relatively small opening 21 at which burns a flame for heating the burner. In a modification, a stand-pipe with elbow-couplings is arranged between the pipe 17 and mixing- chamber 18. In another arrangement, a further supply of steam is admitted to the mixing- chamber through a tube enclosing the oil-pipe, the inner steam pipe being supported in this case by radial screwed pins passing through the oil pipe.
