Abstract

1141. Essex, W. S. Jan. 16. Spray burners ; wickless burners.-Relates to oil-burners of the kind wherein the steam used for spraying the oil is generated in a vessel heated by the burner. The steam-generator 3, Fig. 1, is supported by the upwardly-extending ends 2 of a pan 1, the back of which supports the oil-supply pipe 5. The generator is connected by a series of pipes, one of which 12 may be rotatable, to a nozzle 17 placed as shown. The nozzle 17 may be provided with a pivoted piece 21, Fig. 5, in order to control the discharge therefrom. In modified constructions, the pan 1 is surrounded by another pan provided with a drain-pipe. The burner is started by running oil from the pipe 5 into the pan 1, and igniting it. When steam is generated, it atomizes the oil issuing from the pipe 5, and directs the flame on to the generator.
