Abstract

28,409. Watford Engineering Works, and Paramor, J. Dec. 18. Ratchet gearing. - The drums of rotary strainers are fitted with ratchet-wheels b and driven by pawls c, c<1> from a rotating or rocking shaft e, the connecting-rod being formed of a tube g containing a spring h working in conjunction with a rod h<1>, which is provided with a collar at one end and attached to the pawl c at the other. The pawls c, c<1> do not engage with the wheel b simultaneously but are arranged so that the pawl c<1> engages if the pawl c misses.
