Abstract
25,692. Hettwig, H. Nov. 17. Telescopic and e xpanding tables. - An extensible table having roll - top extensions is provided with extension - supporting members of I cross-section, connected together by bolts carrying rollers, a spring tongue arranged on one member engaging a notch in the neighbouring member so that this is freed therefrom after the members have been drawn out together a certain distance, to enable the outer member to be completely extended. Supporting- legs for the extensible parts of the table top are provided, which are operated by the movement of the table top. A receptacle 2 for the roll shutters 3 is arranged on the fixed member 1 of the table, one end of each shutter being connected with one of the movable members 4. The extension supports 5, 6, and 7, of which the middle pair 5 are fixed, are slidably connected by bolts 8 carrying rollers 9 which engage grooves 10, the members 6 and 7 being of I cross-section, while the members 5 have a similar doubled cross - section. The supporting-members 11 for the roll shutters are similary shaped, and are hinged to the fixed part 1 at 13, while their outer ends are provided with rollers 14 running in circular guiderails 15. Pivoted supporting-feet 17 are mounted on the members 7 and are actuated by the link 19 and bell-crank lever 21, so that when the table is extended, the projection 22 on the member 6 engages with the bell-crank lever 21 and lowers the legs, while as the member 4 is pushed inwards, the projection 23 turns the lever 21 and raises the legs, which are held in their raised position by the counterweights 29. As the table is extended, a projection 24 engages the notch 26 of a spring tongue 25 so that the members 7 and 6 move together until the extension of the latter is completed, whereupon the tongue 25 is lowered by contact with the projection 27, thus setting free the projection 24 and allowing the member 7 to be fully extended. The roll shutter is strengthened by an elastic steel bar 32 arranged in a groove 31 of the shutter, one end of the bar being secured to the member 1, while its free end passes within a space 33, provided with rollers 34, in the member 4. Guides 35 and rollers 36 are provided for the shutter within the receptacle 2, while the last links of the shutter are covered with linen 37, in order to form an axis about which the rest can fold.
