Abstract

[Cognate Application, 25,601/11.] Fire-tubes, arrangements of superheating- tubes in.-In steam-superheaters of the type wherein superheating-tuhes arranged in the firetubes of a locomotive or like boiler are connected to the lower side of a header arranged in the smoke-box and divided into alternate compartments for saturated and superheated steam such as is described in Specification 16,686/11, the upper face of the header is covered by a removable plate, the attachments for steam-pipes being in the front and back faces of the header. Fig. 2 shows the header in plan and partly in section. Saturated steam enters by the inlet 12 and passes to the compartments 3, 4, 5. It then passes through the superheater-tubes to the compartments 7, 8, 9, 10 and leaves by the outlets 14. The coverplate 15 is held in position by nuts screwed on to pins 17 projecting upwards from the walls of the header. In a modification the compartments 8, 9 communicate through a passage in the cover-plate.
