Abstract

Fire-tubes, arrangements of superheating- tubes in. - In a steamsuperheater of the type in which superheating- tubes arranged in the fire - tubes of a locomotive or like boiler are connected to two headers arranged one on each side of the smokebox, the headers being divided into series of compartments for saturated and superheated steam alternately, and the ends of the tubes are expanded into the headers and each header is furnished with a removable cover. The headers 5, 6 are connected as shown to the saturated-steam inlet 3, the steam flowing by passages 25, 26 to saturated-steam chambers 18, 19 in the headers. From the chambers 18, 19 the steam passes to superheating-tubes 14 and thence to chambers 20, 21 in the headers. From the chambers 20, 21 the steam flows through passages 28 at the back of the headers, or in the covers thereof, after the fashion described in Specification 16,686/11, to outlet chambers to which the steam pipes are connected. The chambers 18, 19, 20 are closed by a removable cover 22 held down by nuts and screws. The chamber 21 is provided with a cleaning - opening closed by a screw-plug 24. The steam-pipes from the two headers may be connected by a cross-pipe.
