Abstract
22,960. Bailey, E. V. Oct. 18. Knobs, attaching.-Relates to means for securing door knobs, cupboard turns, &c. to their spindles, of the type in which a screw is pressed through a plain hole in the neck of the knob and screwed into one of a series of tapped holes formed in the split end of the spindle, and consists in providing that the lower end of the screw pin does not pass beyond the tapped hole into the neck of the knob. The tapered screw pin d having a plain portion d<1> engages a plain hole e in the neck of the knob f and screws into one of a series of tapped holes b in the split end c of the spindle a, but does not enter the portion f<1> of the neck of the knob. Alternatively the tapped holes b may be tapered instead of the pin, or both the pin and tapped holes may be tapered. The above-described method of attachment is stated to be applicable to old knobs in which the threads of the tapped holes in the neck are worn, in place of the method of attachment described in Specification 20,058/99. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 15,945/84.
