Abstract

[Cognate Application, 28,975/09.] Knobs, attaching.-A door knob a, Fig. 1, is secured to an unscrewed square spindle g by providing it with an irregularly-shaped flange b, which is passed through a similarly-shaped opening f in a division plate e of a rose-plate d. The rose-plate is then turned sufficiently to prevent the parts from being disengaged by the turning of the handle, thus causing the division plate e to take into a groove c behind the flange b. The rose-plate is then secured by screws. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the handle is secured rotatably to the rose-plate, and is provided with a squared recess h<1>, which engages a separated part of a collar j<1> having a flange i<1> similar to the flange b. The collar j<1> is first screwed on to the spindle, the corners of which are threaded, until it is close up to the door and has its faces parallel with those of the spindle. The knob and rose-plate are next slipped on, and the rose turned, to allow the flange i<1> tu pass through the spring f, and then given a further turn and secured to the door. The modification shown in Fig. 6 is similar to that shown in Fig. 3, except that the rose and knob in this case are also secured by an irregular flange and hole as shown in Fig. 1.
