27,853. Williams, W., and Collins, F. H. Dec. 19. Knobs and handles, attaching.-A. knob or handle is secured to its spindle by a rose which is made in two parts c<1>, c<2>, Figs. 3 and 4. The flange e fits in the recess d or behind a collar or lateral projection formed on the neck of the knob. One half of the rose may have dowel pins h engaging with holes i. Instead of the recess d being formed in the knob, it may be formed in the rose. The rear face of the rose may be quite flat, the piece k lying in a recess cut in the door. The rose may be divided, as shown in Fig. 6, or may consist of two pieces such as r, k<1>, Fig. 7. Fig. 8 shows a form in which the rose consists of only one semicircular piece pivoted at v. The other end may be left free or may be secured by a screw l. It is stated in the Provisional Specification that, in the case of the modification shown in Fig. 7, the piece k may be omitted ; also, that the rose may be replaced by two plates, taking into different parts of the recess in the knob.
