21,908. Grille, C. J. A. Oct. 4. Flooding superheaters.-In a boiler of the Grille type, a number of tubes may be used either for generating or for superheating steam. U-shaped tubes i are connected to auxiliary headers j, k, of which the upper header j is placed permanently in communication with the upper part of the drum a, and the lower header k may be placed in communication either with the lower part of the drum through the pipes m or with the outlet-pipe for superheated steam. When a cock n in the pipe m is opened, water enters the header k and the tubes i are used for generating steam. The direction of the steam through the tubes may be reversed by suitably modifying the connexion with the drum.
