Abstract
20,494. Tracy, P., and Fiske, W. G. Sept. 16. Bending.-Relates to apparatus for feeding a sheet intermittently through a machine for operating on it at intervals, such for example as a machine for bending cardboard. The sheet is fed over the feed-table 4 on to the delivery table 5 by two sets of endless tapes 7, which are driven by belt from cone pulleys on the main shaft 12<1> and kept taut by jockey-rollers 11. At the sides of the tables 4, 5 are gauges 16 adjustable by right and left handed threaded screws 17 connected by chain gearing 18 and operated by hand-wheels 17<1>. As the sheet moves forwards under the bending-blade 1, which is raised and lowered by eccentrics 2, it is arrested in the required position by stops 30, vertically movable in frames 28, which are adjustable in a longitudinal opening on the table 5. The stops 30 are operated by cams 31, which are feathered on to the shaft 19 and set so that the stops are operated to arrest the front edge of the sheets in succession. The shaft 19 is intermittently rotated by ratchet gear 21 from a lever 24 rocked by a cam 23. In order to increase the grip of the feed-tapes each time the sheet is restarted, drop-rollers 33 on arms 34 are provided to co-operate with the rollers 8, 9 and are rocked into and out of action by a link 35 and a connexion 36 to the lever 24. The stops 30 may be thrown out of action independently.
