Abstract

20,063. Perry, F. Sept. 9. Sulphuric acid.-In the manufacture of sulphuric acid by the action of sulphuretted hydrogen on a solution of copper sulphate, the precipitated copper sulphide is reconverted completely into sulphate, after calcination, by treating with sufficient sulphuric acid to convert the portion of copper oxide into sulphate. The acid used may be that obtained in the first stage of the process. The invention is particularly applicable to the removal of sulphuretted hydrogen from Mond or like gases, the acid produced being used for the extraction of the ammonia in them.
