Tread bands, projecfions, and surfaces. - A band a of sheet metal, compressed paper, or other non- puncturable material, shaped to fit a pneumatic tyre, is formed with beaded or wired edges e, which may fit in grooves in the sides of the tyre, and is held on the tyre by the pressure of the air - tube. Annular bands of flexible material g engaging the edges of the band a, preferably by wired edges i fitting behind the beads or rolls e and between the tyre and the rim, are provided to prevent dust &c. from getting between the band and the tyre. The band may be provided with elastic studs or be covered with elastic material, which may be formed with non-skid ribs or the like. Tyre attachments to rims.-To prevent creeping, the band may be connected to the rim by links k pivoted to brackets l on the band and plates m on the rim.
