Tyres, pneumatic etc.; felloes or rims.-The tyre of a motor-car or other vehicle wheel is almost surrounded by a metal rim formed in two parts secured together transversely, and is protected along the tread part by a continuous rubber strip. The two flexible metal parts a, b of the rim are secured together by bolts d so that the edges e,f of the continuous chamber g are held between the parts. The side walls of the chamber are composed of alternate layers i, k, Fig. 2, of rubber and canvas, and the tread part c is a continuous rubber strip. The tyres may be inflated to a high pressure or may be used at atmospheric pressure.
