Abstract

102,613. Granville, B. Dec. 4, 1915, [Convention date]. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and pneumatic cushions. - A rigid metal ring e which has inwardly projecting parallel side flanges c, and carries a tread cushion of rubber 15 on its outer peripheral surface, fits over the inflatable body b, which is provided with ribs 13 to fit the channelled metal rim. The periphery of the metal rim may be transversely flat. or may have a curved cross-section as shown in Fig. 1. The inner edge of the flange may be turned outwardly or may be flat. The rim e and the body b are so shaped that when the latter is inflated, the air pressure forces the ribs laterally and radially into engagement with the flanges c and the portions of the rim adjacent thereto, the rim being held by friction only.
