Abstract
17,422. Spiro, L. July 31. Suit-cases &c. are provided with means for preventing the sides from being broken when fastening the lock. A brace member D, Figs. 2 and 3, is hinged to a plate B riveted to the case A beneath the lock C, and is provided with an extending portion E, stiffened by means of an inclined member F, and with a laterallyextending flange G adapted to take beneath a latch member H which is secured to the case A. When the cover K is closed and the latch member C<1> is down on the lock member C, the brace D serves as a resisting-member. The member D holds the clothes &c. in place when the cover K is opened. In a modification the brace member is adjustable in length to adapt it to suit-cases &c. of different sizes.
