Abstract

Chucks. - For gripp i n g toothed gearwheels 2, the jaws 4, Figs. 1 and 2, a r e t o o t h e d or partly toothed to correspond to the gear-wheel, the jaws being moved inward either by the chuck mechanism or by hand. E a c h jaw is loosely mounted on a block 5. which may be adjusted by a screw 6 working through a part of the slide 7, and is fixed by a screw 8. For helical, bevel, or other gear-wheels, the jaws are provided with corresponding teeth. Toothed racks may replace the jaws of the form shown, and may be adjusted radially and transversely.
