Breech actions, drop-down barrel; barrels.- Consists in securing two barrels together by part-circular dovetailed or like projections on one barrel engaging corresponding recesses in the other barrel. To assemble the barrels, they are first held at right-angles as shown in Fig. 8, and the projections 6, Fig. 6, are inserted into enlargements 3 of the undercut recesses 2; the barrels are then turned until they are parallel, whereupon a projection 10, Fig. 4, near one muzzle enters a corresponding recess in the other barrel. The parts may be further locked together by a screw 12, Fig. 3, passing through the halves of the lump; and, as an additional security, the parts may be soft-soldered. The extractor legs 8, Fig. 3, slide in slots 7 formed on the joint faces at the breech ends of the barrels.
