Azo dyes; 4-amino- and 4-diazo-3-oxarylarsonic acids; 4:4<1>-diamino-3:3<1>-dioxyarsenobenzene and derivatives thereof. - 4:4<1>-diamino-3:3<1>- dioxyarsenobenzene and derivatives thereof, useful in medicine, are produced by a strong reduction of 4-amino-3-oxyarylarsonic acids, or of the azo dyes produced from 4-diazo-3-oxyarylarsonic acids and components such as 2- naphthol, an aminonaphtholsulphonic acid, resorcin, &c. The 4-amino-3-oxyarylarsonic acids are obtained by reduction of the abovementioned dye-stuffs, and the 4-diazo-3-oxyarylarsonic acids are obtained by the action of agents capable of combining with mineral acids upon 4-diazo-3-nitroarylarsonic acids. The diazo compound of 4:4<1>-diamino-3:3<1>-dioxyarsenobenzene yields a blue solution when combined with 1:8:4-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid in an alkaline solution.
