Trisazo dyes are obtained by combining the diazo compounds of 5-amino-4-chlor-2-acidylamino-1-phenolalkylethers or 5-amino-4-methyl- 2-acidylamino-1-phenolalkylethers with 1:6- or 1:7-naphthylamine sulphonic acid, or a mixture thereof, re-diazotizing, and combining with a second molecular proportion of one of these acids or a mixture thereof, diazotizing again, and combining with 1:3- or 2:7-naphthol sulphonic acid, and finally splitting off the acidyl groups by saponification. The products dye cotton blue shades and may be diazotized on the fibre and developed with #-naphthol etc. 5- Amino-4-chlor-2-oxalylamino-1-anisol, 5-amino-4- methyl-2-formylamino-1-anisol and the corresponding phenetols are specified as first components. 5-Amino-4-chlor-2-acidylamino-1-phenolalkylethers are obtained by acidylizing 5-nitro-4- chlor-2-amino-1-phenolalkylethers and reducing. The ethyl ether may be obtained by treating nitro-p-dichlorbenzene with ethyl alcohol and caustic soda, reducing the resulting 4-chlor-2- nitro-1-phenetol, acetylizing the amino body, nitrating the product, and then reducing. 5-Amino-4-methyl-2-acidylamino-1-phenolalkylethers are obtained by acidylizing 5-nitro-4- methyl-2-amino-1-phenolalkylethers and reducing ; the ethyl ether may be obtained by nitrating 2-acetylamino-4-methyl-1-phenetol, and reducing the product.
