11,427. Newton, P. A., [Farbenfabriken vorm. F. Bayer & Co.]. May 11. Samples furnished. Aminodiaryl-2-amino-5--naphthol-7-sulphonic acids are obtained by treating 2-amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid or 2:5-dioxynaphthalene- 7-sulphonic acid with diamino compounds of the diphenyl series in presence of bisulphites. Benzidine, tolidine, dianisidine, benzidine monosnlphonic acid, tolidine monosulphonic acid, benzidine oxamic acid, tolidine oxamic acid are specified as parent diamines. Azo dyes.-Mono-, dis-, and tris-azo dyes are obtained by combining diazo, diazoazo, tetrazo, or secondary diazodisazo compounds with the above-described aminodiaryl compounds. The following combinations are specified:-monoazo dyes from sulphanilic acid and benzidyl- or sulphobenzidyl-2-amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid; a secondary disazo dye from m-xylidine-o-sulphonic acid, cresidine, and sulphobenzidyl-2- amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid; a disazo dye from benzidine-o-disulphonic acid and sulphobenzidyl-2:5: 7-acid; diaminodiphenylamine sulphonic acid, and p-diaminodiphenylurea-o-disulphonic acid are also specified as suitable diamines; a trisazo dye from m-xylidine-o-sulphonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid, and sulphotolidyl-2:5:7-acid. The diazo and trisazo dyes above described dye cotton various shades of blue. The aminodiaryl-2:5:7-acids may be diazotized and combined with components.
