Furnace fireplaces.-In apparatus for burning coal, preferably coal dust, and the gases produced therefrom, and of the type in which a rotating drum has the coal introduced at one end and air for combustion at the other end, which also acts as an exit for ashes, the latter end is partly closed by an end piece in and around which are regulatable openings for the passage of air and ashes. The fuel is fed through an opening e into the fuel delivery space d leading to the rotatable drum a mounted on rollers b. The lower end of the drum is partly closed by an end piece h, around which the drum revolves, having a regulatable space g between the drum and the end piece and a regulatable space or spaces f in the end piece, these openings serving the purpose of air inlets and ash exits.
