Abstract

14,304. Taylor, G. C. June 16 Compound fabrics.- Treads for wheel tyres and boots and shoes which are formed of rubbered fabric, such as is described in Specifications 12,319/08 and 7309/09, [both in Class 144 (ii), Wheel tyres &c.], are cut on the wearing-surface, nearly through the thickness of the treads, before vulcanization, and then wholly or partly vulcanized, so that the cuts are filled up by rubber exuded from the fabric. The cuts may be filled with rubber solution before vulcanization. The cuts may be parallel, and may be in two series crossing one another, as shown in Fig. 2.
