Abstract

Steering and balancing.-Front and rear elevators are connected by crossed cords so as to be movable simultaneously in opposite directions, the rear elevator being mounted on a universal joint and provided with a vertical plane capable of serving as a rudder. The front elevator 11 comprises an horizontal plane 22 pointed at the front and provided with a diamond-shaped keel plane 25. The elevator is carried by a shaft 21 having tillers 23 to which are connected cords 33, 39. The upper cord 39 is connected by a cord 40 to the lower of the vertical planes 27 secured to the rear elevator 28. The lower cord 33 is attached by a cord 36 to a hand-lever 18 and to the upper vertical plane 27. The rear steering-member 12 comprising horizontal and vertical planes 28, 27, is pivoted on a universal joint to the frame of the machine, and is swung sideways for steering laterally by a cord 30 guided over pulleys 31 and attached to a hand-lever 19.
