Draught and weather excluders; pivoted sliding windows. - Swinging doors and casement windows are secured in a weather-tight manner in the closed position by a pair of L-shaped bars extending along the top, bottom, and opening side of the door or casement, mounted on either the door &c. or its frame and simultaneously extensible or retractable within a channel formed in the door frame or door respectively. In the arrangement shown in Figs. I and 2, the two L-shaped bars d, attached by links h to the casement window m, are connected together by a finger f on one bar engaging behind a pin g on the other bar, so that both bars are moved simultaneously by a pin and knob b on one bar working in an oblique slot e in the casement m. The links h may be replaced by pin-and-slot connexions. The invention may be applied to sliding window-sashes pivoted to sliding stiles, the L-shaped bars locking the sash to the sliding stiles and being connected together along the top rail of the sash and operated as described above; or each L-shaped bar may be independently operated by a knob k as shown in Fig. 6.
