Abstract
9139. Munday, G., and Evans, V. D. May 4. Stencils of transparent flexible material, such as celluloid, are formed with characters having distinctive outlines to facilitate placing the characters in correct position, and suitable registration marks are formed on the stencils for a similar purpose. The transparency of the material allows the stencil to be placed so that the characters b are correctly positioned with respect to the characters y already marked on the surface to be stencilled, and lines c, d may be scratched or otherwise marked on the stencil to facilitate the positioning of the stencil. The outlines or edges of the characters b may be rendered distinct by colouring, or by roughening them during their stamping. In connexion with stencils formed with two similar designs for producing a complete design in two colours, the second design may be formed with guiding-marks corresponding to parts of the first design so as to assist the positioning of the stencil for applying the second colour.
