Bits; bridles.-In bridles of the kind in which the cheek straps are connected to or passed down through loops on the bit cheek rings and around rollers in connexion with the bit for attachment to the reins, the mouth-bar of the bit is formed with integral extensions to carry the rollers. In a modification the bit is supported by the cheek straps, and the reins are carried around the rollers through the cheek rings and up over the horse's head in known manner. Fig. 4 shows the mouth-bar A with extensions C, rollers D, and loops E for guiding the cheek straps G, loops F being also provided on the cheek rings B. In order to support the bit short straps may be buckled to the cheek straps to act as stops. One end only of the mouth-bar may be arranged in the above manner, the other end being supported in the usual way. When the reins are carried around the rollers D and up through the loops F, the mouth-bar is supported by buckling the cheek straps to additional rings secured within and in the same plane as the rings B.
