THOMAS MARCUM, OF MUSOOGEE, INDIAN TERRITORY.
BRIDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 522,021, dated June 26, 1894.
Application filed July 24, 1893. Serial No. 481| N m del-l To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, THOMAS MAROUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Muscogee, in the Greek Nation and Indian Territory, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Buggy or Driving Bridles; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention is a new bridle, and consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is an illustration showing my bridle in position. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my bridle.
My invention is described as follows: a, is the top band secured to the temple'rings b, by buckles or sewed strips of leather 0.
d, is the brow band secured to the temple rings by being buckled or sewed therein.
e, is the nose piece, the upper end of which is divided into two parts c, and c and passes up over the horses head between its ears, one on each side of its top knot, and then passes under the loop f, secured to the top hand.- These two parts 6, and c of said front piece extend back and are secured to the saddle g, forming the hitch rein or reins g, and is prevented from slipping too far forward by means of the stops h, immediately in rear of the loop f, or the said straps e, and c may terminate at the stops it. The lower part of said nose' piece is divided into two parts i, and '5, each part being secured to the bit ringsj, by buckle, snaps or otherwise.
Secured to the temple rings 19, and extending downward are two straps it, having attached to their lower ends swiveled snaps k, which are snapped into the chin ring Z. In said chin ring is secured a strap m, having its lower end divided into two parts at, and it. On the lower end of these straps 'n, and n, is secured swiveled snaps 0, and 0.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
' A bridle, consisting of the top band a, having the loop f, and secured to the temple rings 1); brow band 01, secured to said temple rings; throat straps 70, one end secured to said temple rings and the other terminating in snaps 1c chin ring Z, working in said snaps; strap m, one end secured to said chin ring, its lower end divided into two parts at, and terminating in snaps 0; said snaps working on bit rings j; nose piece 6, its lower end divided into two parts 1', and secured to the bit rings j; its upper end divided into two parts c, and c and passing under the loop f; and stops h, secured on the upper end of said parts 6, and c substantially as shown and described and for the purposes set forth.
