Abstract
3502. Oliver, M. J. Feb. 11. Small-arms combined with other articles; weapons combined with appliances other than small-arms.-Relates to wire-cutters comprising two eccentrically-pivoted arms which, under the pressure of the wire, swing round their respective pivots, and cause the cutting-edges to come together as described in Specification 5689/00, and consists in forming one of the cutting-edges on a member E, Fig. VI, pivoted near the free end of one of the arms A, Fig. VII, and operated by the second arm B, Fig. V, which has an opposing cutting-edge G. As shown in Figs. V and VI, the second arm B has a projecting knuckle J which engages a corresponding socket K on the member E; thus, as the arm B moves outwards relatively to the arm A, the member E is turned anti-clockwise. The first pivoted arm A may consist of two parts having the arm B mounted between them, as shown by the cross-section, Fig. III. The arms are maintained in the initial position by a spring detent N, Fig. II.
