Abstract
3479. Haldenby, W. Feb. 11. Whistles. - In a motor-car whistle operated by the engine exhaust, a spring - controlled valve J is fitted at the end of the sound-tube A to allow of the escape of the gas that does not pass through the sound-holes D of the whistle. A toothed disk E may carry a stem F having a spreading-head F<1>, which stem may be prolonged within the sound-tube to carry a coil G to break up the stream of gas.
