Abstract

1807. Pahola, J. Jan. 24. Actuating.-In a spittoon which is automatically flushed with water or disinfectant when the tray 4 is opened or closed, the supply pipe 20 has a valve seat 27; upon which is fitted a spring-controlled valve 26 mounted on a stem 28. A sleeve 32, rotatably mounted upon the valve chamber 29 has a shank 35, from which extend handles to operate the tray 4. Projecting arms 33, Fig. 4, are connected by a cross-bar 34 having cam faces 34<a> which engage, by movement of either handle, with a projection 39 upon a lever 31 connected to the valve spindle and pivoted to a pin 19. Movement of either handle thus causes the projection 39 to be raised by one cam face 34<a>, by rotation of the sleeve 32, and thus operate the valve 26. When the handle is released, the reverse movement takes place.
