Abstract

30,289. Vickery, F. W. Dec. 30. Feeding webs.-In a machine for bundling newspapers the length of wrapper fed is adjusted by the size of the bundle to be operated on. The paper passes beneath a roller 73 capable of vertical movement and so adjusted that sufficient paper is fed between the grippers 23 and the knife 70. A plunger 76 is depressed by a pedal 77 to touch the top of the bundle, and, should a smaller bundle than usual be on the platen it raises the roller 73 by a quadrant 78 so that the amount of paper fed is proportionally less.
