Addressing-machines; feeding sheets.-In a machine for wrapping, addressing, and stacking newspapers &c., the wrapper web is fed from a roller Q to perforating-rollers M, M<1> and between bands j, j<1> moving at a greater speed than the rollers P, P', which separate it into sheets. The sheets are fed between the tapes u, j<11> against a stop i<1>, and a newspaper &c. fed from between the tapes b', c<1> is thrust between the rollers G, G<1> by the folding- blade I<1> and fed with the wrapper between the tapes j, j<11>. Slats c<1>, sliding in grooves of the rollers H, H<1> form a bridge while the wrapper is crossing. In the event of a misfeed of a newspaper, on the depression of the stop i<1>, the wrapper is fed clear of the machine. After wrapping, a cam-actuated pusher N<1> forces the package between the bands p<1>, p<2> and over a stencil table U<1>, Fig. 3, against a stop, q<1>. An inking-roller V<1> travels under the addressing-stencil W<1> while the package is pressed downwards by a presser X<1> Pliable stencils are stacked in a shoot I" and fed forwards by a picker F". The roller S', operating through the arm J" holds the picker out of action if no package is forwarded. The rollers E', F', G<1> are spring - pressed or otherwise - caused to exert a yielding pressure.
