Abstract

30,159. Carlisle, P., and Harbord, A. W. Dec. 29. Piston packing.-Relates to the packing- ring described in Specification 2043/09, and consists in limiting the expansion of the ring by means of stops G on a plate F, Figs. 2 and 3, engaging a pocket A which projects inwardly. The division C of the ring is made in the pocket A, which contains a spiral spring B to expand the ring. The packing-ring is of U-section, and contains springs E of the form shown in Fig. 4.
