Abstract
23,030. Baltrusch, W. Oct. 5. Lighting burners &c. by frictional devices.-In ignition devices, which may be constructed for use in kitchens, publichouses, &c., or to be carried in the pocket, and of the type in which a reservoir c, Fig. 1, for benzine or the like carries a tube e provided with a cerium point and a wick, the block n, Fig. 3, of cerium is gripped in a split clamping-box m in the lower end of the tube e. The tube e fits in a tube d in the reservoir, a bulging portion f preventing the escape of vapour. The wick p surrounds the box m, and is ignited when the block n is rubbed on a surface b on the plate a. As the block n wears, it is pushed outward by a wire k and screw g, which is split so as to fit the tube e tightly and prevent escape of vapour. In pocket devices the plate a is omitted, or the device may be mounted on a table stand.
