Extinguishing wick burners. - Extinguishers for flat - wick burners of oilstoves are operated by the movement of devices which must be moved, without being detached from the burner, to provide access to the filling-aperture of the reservoir. In the form shown, a bar E, slidable in brackets e, carries a shield E<1> which is over the plug G of the filling-aperture when the burner is alight. The bent end d<1> of the pivot of the extinguisher D is connected to the bar E, as by engagement in a slot therein, so that as the bar is moved to allow the plug G to be removed, the extinguisher is turned over the wick-tube B. The device is applicable to multiplex burners.
