Abstract

Sights.-Relates to apparatus of the kind in which the axes about which the sight is crosslevelled to correct for the inclination of the wheels of the gun-carriage on uneven ground remains parallel with the gun's axis at all elevations. The invention consists in making the axis of the rotary gear which serves to elevate the sight coincide with the cross-levelling axis. The invention is shown in Fig. 2 applied to apparatus of the kind described in Specification 4735/05. The sight-bracket F attached to the gun-cradle B supports the attachment-box G for the arc H of the sight J by means of a bayonet-joint f<3>, g<3>, which also forms a bearing about which the box G may be moved transversely, for cross-levelling the sight, by means of a worm-gear K. The spiral worm m<1>, which engages with the arc H, is mounted in the bracket F co-axial with the bearing f<3>, g<3>, and is rotated by a train of gearing connected with the hand-wheel D, by means of which the gun is elevated for range without moving the sighting-line off the target.
