Abstract

Sights.-Relates to high-angle sights of the kind that are initially adjusted to the normal range angle, and wherein the angle of site of target correction is applied automatically as the gun is elevated to bring the line of sight on to the target. According to the invention, the sighting-telescope is fixed, and the adjustments and corrections for ranges and angles of site are made by rotating a prism placed :.n known manner in front of the telescope. Fig. 1 is a side elevation showing the invention applied to a trunnion sight having the angle of site correcting-gear described in Specification 1929/11. The telescope B is mounted in a bracket A on a non-elevating part of the gun-carriage. A prism-containing casing b<2> is journaled into the front end of the telescope casing, and is connected by an arm i and link J to a block H, which engages in a groove in an arm G, rigidly connected to the gun trunnion, and also in a groove in a curved arm C, pivoted at a to the bracket A. Adjustment of the arm C by worm-gear F, E, b moves the block H along the arm G, and rocks the prismcasing b<2> into a position corresponding to the range that is indicated on a dial D rotated by a second worm c on the spindle E. Gearing b' in the prism-casing rotates the prism b<1> at onehalf the speed of the casing. When the gun is elevated to aline the sights and the target, the block H is moved along the guide C, and the prism is thereby rotated to effect the angle of site correction.
