Sights and methods of sighting.-Relates to means for automatically correcting the tangent angle of sight of a gun set for range, as the gun is elevated in accordance with the angle of site of an elevated target, and comprises an arrangement in which a pivoted sight-bar L engages with a vertical rack G which is adjusted for range and kept in a vertical position, as the gun is elevated by means of a parallel-motion system 2 .. 5. By this arrangement, the angular displacement of the sight-bar, effected by adjustment of the rack G, corresponding to any given range varies from a maximum on the horizontal to zero when the gun is pointing vertically. The rack G is adjusted for range by means of handoperated worm gearing and a pinion H<2>, A pin J on the rack carries a block K engaging the slotted end M of the sight-bar L which is pivoted on the trunnion axis 2. The rack G and the gearing therefor are carried on a bracket F which is pivoted at the top of a plate E fixed to the gun cradle B. The parallelism of the rack is maintained by a link 0 connecting the lower end N of the bracket F to the carriage D at the point 5. Specification 125,108 is referred to.
