Sights.-Relates to apparatus in which gearing having a variable transmission ratio is interposed between the range-scale member and the sightcarrier for the purpose of equalizing the graduations of the range-scale, and consists in employing a kinematic quadrilateral for the purpose. In the form shown, the sight D is mounted on an arm D<1> pivoted at b<2> to the cradle B and carrying a curved guide d<2> in which slides a member E pivotally-connected by links G, H to a worm-wheel H<1> on the cradle, the links G, H being inclined at an acute angle, and the links G, D<1> at an obtuse angle. The wheel H' is rotatable by a worm J, the range imparted being read off on a scale h<3> having substantially equal graduations. The position of the slide E in the guide d<2> may be varied by a spiral rack and pinion gear e<1>, F for the purpose of adjusting the elevation of the sight-carrier D<1> to compensate for the influence of the weather, or for wear and tear of the barrel.
