Brake mechanism. - In linkwork transmission mechanism for cycle brakes, two members are secured together by a clamping-device comprising an eyed draw - bolt through which the rod member passes, a tightening - nut, and a clamping-sleeve or washer having a groove or channel across its face to engage the rod when the nut is screwed up. As shown in Fig. 3, the bolt c, nut e, and sleeve g secure together the flattened ends a<1>, b<1> of the two parts of a front-brake rod, but, if desired, the end of one part may be circular and the end of the other part crescent - shaped to fit the eye d and to receive the first part. As shown in Fig. 10, a brake-rod a may be secured to a bell-crank lever l of a rear-brake mechanism by means of the device, the end of the washer or sleeve g being headed over or expanded to effect a connexion with the lever in such manner that the sleeve is free to rotate therein. According to the Provisional Specification, for connecting a rod to a yoke, the rod is passed through a hole in the yoke so that its head bears upon the inside of the yoke through an interposed washer, the rod being secured in position by a nut screwed upon a threaded part to bear upon the outside of the yoke through the medium of a washer.
