Jackets and covers.-A tyre foundation comprises transverse or oblique strips of fabric a, which may be cemented to a fabric base c; they are arranged'in layers so as to overlap, and are cemented together. In the form shown in Figs: 1 and 3, the strips have tongues b, preferably slit as shown in Fig. 3, which project to the tread surface between blocks f comprising obliquely-arranged fabric strips, such as described in Specification 11,645/10. Rubber strips h may be' placed between the blocks f and the tyre foundation. In a modification, the tongues b are not provided, and the blocks f are separated by rubber strips.
